THE STORY BEHIND OUR NAME

Why we chose the name American Veteran Mortgage

American Veteran Mortgage was named in honor of the founder’s son, a U.S. Navy veteran. His military service inspired our company’s name and strengthened our commitment to helping eligible veterans, active-duty service members, and military families understand their VA (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) home loan options.

THE AMERICAN VETERAN MORTGAGE APPROACH

VA loan guidance starts with your goals.

Ask which documents are still missing, whether a property or association review could affect the closing date, and which costs are included in the proposed payment. The company’s Google reviews provide borrowers’ accounts of their experience; they do not establish the terms of your loan.
Listen first
Identify the property or target area, how you plan to use the home, expected move date and whether you have a current COE (Certificate of Eligibility, the VA document showing your home-loan benefit eligibility).
Explain VA options
Review the purchase or refinance path, its requirements, costs, and tradeoffs in plain language.
Stay accountable
Ask which stage is complete, which documents or conditions remain, and whether they affect your contract deadline.

VA PURCHASE AND REFINANCE GUIDANCE

Purchase and refinance topics we explain

VA Purchase Loans
Prepare eligibility, entitlement (the VA benefit amount available to support a lender’s loan guaranty), financing, property, appraisal (a professional estimate of the property’s value for the loan review), and offer considerations together.

VA IRRRL

Review an existing VA-backed loan with attention to costs, time to recover refinance costs, payment, and benefit requirements.
VA Cash-Out Refinance
Compare the cash received after liens (legal claims against property used to secure debts) and costs with the new balance, payment and repayment term. A larger loan may increase total interest even if the payment falls.

A CLEAR PROCESS

Know what happens next.

1

Conversation

State whether you are buying, changing an existing payment or seeking equity (the property’s value minus debts secured by it) funds; each starts with a different loan comparison.

2

Options

Compare the proposed loan balance, payment, term, cash to close (the money you need to bring to closing after deposits, credits and other adjustments) and mortgage insurance or funding fee (a VA program fee that many borrowers pay unless they qualify for an exemption) when applicable.

3

Preparation

Confirm which service, income, asset and property records are needed and submit them through the approved secure process.

4

Closing

Before choosing a closing date, ask whether appraisal, required repairs, insurance or the lender’s review for loan approval conditions remain outstanding.

CREDIBILITY YOU CAN VERIFY

Clear credentials. Clear disclosures.

How we prepare our educational guides

A mortgage broker helps arrange financing through lenders; a lender makes the loan. Ask American Veteran Mortgage which lender is being considered, who will make the approval decision, who pays the broker and where the compensation appears in your disclosures. Compare actual loan terms and costs rather than assuming a broker or a direct lender is always cheaper.
This website does not establish a compensation amount or payment arrangement for your loan. Request the applicable explanation and disclosures for the proposed transaction.

Understand the broker's role and compensation

American Veteran Mortgage Corporation is the publisher and organizational author of this site’s educational guides. The guides were prepared with AI-assisted drafting and editing. They summarize public sources and explain borrower decisions; they do not review your loan or replace current agency guidance.

An editorial update date identifies a content edit. A source check date identifies when the stated source was checked for the specified explanation. A source’s own publication date is separate. An editorial update does not mean every rule was reverified or that an individual mortgage professional approved the page.
We link to the responsible agency for program rules and to official records for property or company verification. Examples labeled hypothetical are illustrations, not actual customer transactions. Lender requirements, borrower records and the property can change the answer.
For a correction or a source question, email info@americanveteranmortgage.com with the page address and the statement you want us to check. Do not email sensitive documents. Verify the company before sharing information.
